Adhesive bonding
Plastic components are very light and therefore contribute less to the overall mass of a construction. When extra strenght is required, we can bond multiple layers of plastic by adhesive bonding. Laminating plastic layers by gluing them together we improve the physical characteristics of plastic form, such as the impact strength, stability, torsional rigidity and sound insulation. Laminating in our factory is done by robot operated laminating cell or manually when the batch size is small.
Design Flexibility
Gluing allows joining of complex shapes and thin-walled components that may not be possible with traditional fasteners or welding. It enables multi-material bonding, including different types of plastics or even plastic-to-metal e.g. metallic insert connections.
Stress Distribution & Structural Integrity
Glued structures distribute loads more evenly across the bonded area, reducing stress concentrations that could lead to failures. This provides clean and seamless joints without visible fasteners. It eliminates the need for component penetrating screws, bolts, or other mechanical fasteners, reducing overall component weight. This contributes to weight savings, which is crucial in automotive and aerospace applications.
Simplified Assembly & Cost Efficiency
Gluing reduces the number of manufacturing steps compared to welding or mechanical fastening. Our robot operated laminating systems can increase production speed and consistency. Gluing also has lower energy requirements compared to welding or thermal bonding methods.
Chemical & Environmental Resistance
Some adhesives also offer superior resistance to moisture, chemicals, and temperature variations. Gluing can also provide hermetic seals to protect sensitive components.
